Welcome back to Caregiver Chronicles! This season has been one full of inspiring advocacy and impactful events, bringing together individuals and communities to support Alzheimer’s and dementia awareness. Here’s a recap of our Autumn 2024 activities!
15th Annual African American Alzheimer’s Forum
In September, we had the privilege of attending the 15th Annual African American Alzheimer’s Forum in Berkeley, California. This event provided valuable information tailored to the African American community, spotlighting the unique challenges and opportunities for early detection, prevention, and support for Alzheimer’s and dementia. With powerful speakers and heartwarming stories, the forum emphasized the importance of awareness, education, and community-based resources, making it a truly inspiring experience.
Walk to End Alzheimer’s
This October, we joined the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, participating in two separate weekends dedicated to raising funds and spreading awareness. These walks are always a beautiful reminder of the strength and dedication within our community, as families, caregivers, and advocates come together to honor loved ones affected by Alzheimer’s. The funds raised will go towards advancing research and supporting local resources.
4th Annual Make a Change Benefit Concert
Rounding out the season, the 4th Annual Make a Change Benefit Concert was held to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s and dementia. This concert is a unique fusion of music and advocacy, bringing together artists and audiences to make a tangible impact. Funds raised will support Alzheimer’s research and aid families affected by the disease, helping them access much-needed resources.
Each event was a powerful reminder of the impact we can make as a united community, and we’re excited to carry this momentum forward into the next season. Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, or supported these events in any way—you are truly making a difference!
